From low yielding vines scattered throughout the village of Santenay, planted in the 1960s.
Winemaking and Ageing
Fermented in wooden vats, with 40% whole clusters. No punch downs, only gentle pump overs to avoid aggressive tannins.AgingAged 10 months, 30% in tank and 70% in 228-liter and 350-liter barrels, 15% of which are new.

Palate
Old vine bring an earthy, plummy style of honest Burgundy.
Drinks beautifully now with it's meaty, fleshy fruit, but definitely promise for some exciting evolution in the next 3-5 years.

Domaine Lucien Muzard et fils

There is evidence of a winegrower named Muzard dating back to 1645, on a deed for the purchase of grapes involving a Beaune winery.

Right through his career, Lucien Muzard - Claude and Hervé's father - bought land and planted vines with his wife Paule, thus offering his sons the possibility of carrying on working on the inherited legacy of old vines. Lucien used the whole bunch vinification process and matured his wines in wooden vats, then sold most of his production to local traders.
