Decelle & Fils, Beaune 1er Cru "Clos du Roi", 2022

Located in the north of the Beaune vineyard, very close to that of Savigny, the Clos du Roi DECELLE & FILS is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic clos of the 1er crus of Beaune. Its history is closely intertwined with that of medieval Burgundy and it owes its name to the many royal tables that have welcomed it over the centuries.
Terroir
Its red soils, rich in iron and very draining, extend over the lower part of the hillside. The vines, over 50 years old, produce small concentrated bunches. The ripeness is generally quite advanced.
Hence, this plot is often the first that we manually harvest.
Vinification
The vinification is done according to a very traditional scheme: indigenous yeasts, vatting for about 20 days then aging for 18 months in barrels. The percentage of new barrels does not exceed 30% so as not to distort the great finesse of this wine.

Eye
Medium-intensity violet-red color.

Nose
Expressive notes of ripe fruits and kirsch.

Palate
We are seduced by the great finesse of this wine which combines a meaty caracter with a tannic structure full of elegance. A very fine wine which will give its best expression in its youth.

Pairing
It marries admirably with a roast pork or soft cheeses.
